Afro Samurai

I watched Afro Samurai today.. it’s an anime style movie.

From IMDB:
In a strange world of swords, guns and kimonos, cell phones and cybernetic body parts – a black samurai, Afro Samurai (Samuel L. Jackson), seeks revenge from a man named Justice (Ron Perlman) who killed his father and also happens to be the #1 fighter in the world. After Afro earns the rank of #2 fighter needed to challenge the #1, he starts his lonely walk to revenge. He faces bounty hunters, bar thugs and fanatical monks – all of whom seem to have clues to the whereabouts of Justice and all of whom covet the position of #2 for themselves. Also along the way we are introduced to Afro’s chatty companion – the light hearted Ninja Ninja.

I would rate it 8/10. It has a simple plot, but is extremely stylistic.. lots of explicit scenes, blood and gore. Very very good fight scenes! It was also weird to have high tech stuff in ancient japan, + gansta talking monks. Lol!

Irony Man

I watched Iron Man with my old friend, at EHub in downtown east.

EHub will be a major hangout of Hai Sing students for sure, it’s like just across the street (wtf?). I wonder if the school will get more complaints from nearby residents. We used to get read complain letters during assembly time, courtesy of the DM.

I need someone to explain to me about the whole “a large maget will keep shrapnel out of my heart” thing.. and how the arc reactor works. It was a ok movie, but the most exciting part was when Iron Man flew too high and his suit powered down. I was like, “please hit the ground pleaseeeee” but damn, as expected, he recovered just as he was about to smash. Reminds me of some spiderman scenes.

Lastly, I spotted Stan Lee!

Equilibrium

Equilibrium is a 2002 action/science fiction film written and directed by Kurt Wimmer. The movie draws from classic dystopian novels such as Nineteen Eighty-Four (totalitarian state), Fahrenheit 451 (destruction of art), We, Anthem, This Perfect Day and Brave New World (use of drugs to create uniform individuals), as well as from the Outlanders series of novels, and the film Logan’s Run. Christian Bale has the lead role in the film and is supported by Taye Diggs, Christian Kahrmann, Emily Watson and Sean Bean.

The movie performed poorly at the box office. Although it was received well by test audiences, the film was given only a limited release and little promotion. It was also received very poorly by critics [1]. On MetaCritic the average rating is a mere 33%. It has, however, become something of a cult favourite, largely among science fiction fans on the internet. It has scored an impressive 7.7 out of 10 on the Internet Movie Database, voted for by viewers.

The film was originally released as Cubic in Scandinavian countries and as Rebellion in Japan.

^ Above taken from wiki. If you think that I just watched it, you are correct. It’s not that great, but good enough for me to think it’s good. Am I making sense to you? Gun kata is fucking cool btw.
